gez first came to prominence in 1990 as one
half (with mark bell) of the ground breaking leeds
based duo lfo. with a sound that referenced to
rearly house, b-boy aesthetic, nothern bleep &
their own distinctive sub-bass. lfo had and still
has a considerable influence one 1991 they made a
tour throughout europe and released their first
album frequencies... a classic! 1992-1993 the
duo was much in demand for doing remixes: africa
bambaata , art of noise & ymo... riichie
hawtin had been considerably influenced by the duo
and they collaborated on the 12 lfovsfuse. by '94
they took a little rest. mark bell's' speed
jack and gez's g-man projects both have their
roots in this period and once the advance (2nd
album) was released it was the end of an era...
gez's pre-disposition has always been for live
playing and for music which can move the floor in
a club setting. the developing lfo situation was
not at all conducive to this approach and he began
to realize that only through a seperate project
could he actually do what he felt he should be
doing. swim had approached lfo in early '95 to
remix immersion, in the end both gez and mark did
remixes. gez sent some cassette of other g-man
tracks that ended up as the firts g-man e.p. on
swim. the project developed organicly over the to
year 1996 where an album and live work became part
of a natural flow of events, resulting in summer
'96 with release of the cd album kushti . '97 saw
the branching out of the g-style into it's own
sub label in the swim stable. a cd released from
g-man on his own label is eagerly awaited in '98.
gez has meanwhile continuited to mash up other
peoples tunes to keep his hand in (malka spiegel,
dj fallove, w-moon, & vapourspace). at the
beginning of '99, gez moved to germany. he began
to play more gigs in holland and germany. gez who
alos contracted by zenit records with marco carola
who wanted to work with him. the result was
remixes of the old classic g-man tracks quo
vadis and el jem. g-man also worked on an album
with marco carola, and he is also working with
force inc. since g-man moved to germany he has
started a new record label with his girlfriend.
the first released on gmr music was in october
2000, with the volume one of the kinight trax. he
also released the amazing album bayous paradis on
force inc and do two remixes for the belgian duo
bng, included on the atv2
album.
